Leeds Masonic Lodge Breakfast

Leeds Masonic Lodge has their monthly fellowship breakfast this Saturday morning at the Lodge starting at 8:00 a.m.. Enjoy everything from eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy to lots more all cooked by local Lodge members. Donations are accepted but not required and all donations go to community outreach programs. The Lodge is located on 1st Avenue behind the Pants Store parking lot and all are welcome.

BRINGING ART TO THE TABLE

The Leeds Arts Council is producing its third annual Tablescapes November 5th through 8th at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center at 8140 Parkway Drive in downtown Leeds. This event is for those who enjoy celebrating a holiday or the cherished company of family and friends. It is full of inspirational ideas to make your table come alive for your special occasion.

The tablescapes fundraiser was inspired by Jo Ann Malone, 2007 LAC President, to help fund arts programs presented at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center. The first year tablescapes hosted six table designers and twelve in 2008. As excitement has grown the number of tables have grown. “We plan to have more than fifteen tables this year,” says event chairman, Marie Gardner.”

One returning tablescape designer is The Monkey’s Uncle, Alabama’s 2009 Retailer of the Year. Last year their table was very popular with the teen crowd. It included a table top covered with snow and included purple and silver polka-dot decor. Another unique table included a seascape design by Gloria’s Arrangements embracing sand, sea foam, fishing nets, coral, fish and sea shells. This year themes range from football party ideas, French Country, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years. Decorating styles embrace traditional, classic, modern and edgy motifs.

The event opens Thursday, November 5, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and runs through Sunday November 8^th. Opening night tickets are $10 and include an evening of live music with pianist David Brasher and hors d’oeuvres from Top Notch Catering. Friday and Saturday hours are 9:00 - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday hours are 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Tickets for Friday through Sunday are $5. Drawings for door prizes will be help following the closing ceremony on Sunday and winners will be contacted on the following Tuesday.

Three workshops are provided during the event. Decorating with Southern Living at Home workshops will be Friday and Saturday at 12:30 and Cooking Hors D’oeuvres with Pampered Chef will be Sunday at 2:00.
